These funds, and generous donations from area persons and businesses, not only support the operations of the Posse, but are passed on in order to sponsor youth athletics and agriculture

Organized in 1949, the Napa County Sheriff's Mounted Posse has historically distinguished itself with a half a century of service to the community and is the oldest working posse in the State of California.

Though the Posse's primary function is the performance of search and rescue, they are activated during local emergencies, such as floods, as an integral part of the public service team. Whether involved in the charitable or civic events, local parades, or lending a hand to deserving organizations, the Posse takes pride in their support of the community.

Join the Posse
Requirements:
In order to be part of the Mounted Posse, the following minimum requirements must be met:

Own or have exclusive access to a horse, truck, and horse trailer

Demonstrate horsemanship skills.

Pass a background investigation
-
Live in, or have a reasonable response time to Napa County
-
Be in reasonably good health, able to mount your horse without aid
-
And must possess the will and desire to volunteer your time to assist the Sheriff’s Department in its commitment to the community

We invite all that are interested to join us at one of our meetings, held the first Thursday of every month at 7pm at the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, 1535 Airport Blvd in the Emergency Operations Center. If you are unable to attend a meeting and would like more info, contact us!
